If you start your entrepreneurial journey with the mindset that you may fail, you are doomed. Having the right mindset is the foremost attribute required for every entrepreneur. If there is something in common between the world’s highly successful entrepreneurs – Microsoft’s Bill Gates, Wal-Mart’s Sam Walton, IBM’s Thomas Watson Sr, or GE’s Thomas Alwa Edison – it is their winning mindsets. A great product or idea will not necessarily ensure success in business. It is with positive mindsets that these industry leaders built thriving companies.

Even if your entrepreneurial venture is small with very limited operations, the most vital element for its success is your mindset. It’s always a roller coaster ride for an entrepreneur. Every entrepreneur must be confident about handling the everyday pressures and setbacks that are bound to happen in any business. The way you react to such situations largely depends on your mindset. However bleak may be the scenario, you can take control of it with your confidence. An optimistic mindset will help you accept failures and learn from them.

Keeping a positive mindset is of prime importance for you to focus on your entrepreneurial goals and work hard toward achieving them. Nevertheless, being a workaholic is not an appreciable trait as it will burn you out sooner or later. What counts is your ability to put in long hours when required and this will only come with a mindset tuned for success.

As an entrepreneur, you are free to do what you want, but a successful entrepreneur is well disciplined and responsible. It is critical to have a mindset that welcomes accountability along with freedom. A good entrepreneur enjoys the freedom to explore and choose the line of business, set goals and strategies, and make crucial decisions. At the same time, he or she accepts the accountability to customers, employers, and other stakeholders. With this mindset alone, any business can be run professionally with the aim to be successful in the long run.

It is important to keep your ego at bay when you venture out to be an entrepreneur. Rejections and rebukes can occur during the course of running any enterprise. With an open and egoless mindset, you will be able to accept them and move on. An entrepreneur with a winning attitude will not allow such situations to hamper his or her pursuit for success.

While having a single-minded quest for success is necessary, an entrepreneur needs to have a flexible mindset that can easily adapt to changes. It may not always happen as you had planned. When new opportunities emerge, an open mind is required to change your pre-decided course of action and take new routes. An adaptable mindset also helps you learn and grow.

Finally, for an entrepreneur, an altruistic mindset is not an always appreciable trait when it comes to making money from business. A good entrepreneur must not shy away from making money. The way you want to spend the money made is up to you, but wealth creation must be one of your primary goals as an entrepreneur. A mindset that values wealth will lead you to become a successful entrepreneur.

Its funny how we look back on history and the way it tends to repeat itself. The Internet ups and downs may prove themselves in different ways, but the actuality is that they are there forever. Lets see how we look at bringing home the bacon. The world has witnessed a lot of change in the term “work”.

There are always periods in history when earning a buck can be easy and there are periods in history when you really have to sweat and bleed in order to eat. Throughout demanding times, people relinquish distinctive things in order to earn various types of revenue. This sometimes involves blood, tears and sweat.

However, there are several times when people can earn this conveniently, provided that the circumstances are right. This point in history provides the acceptable circumstances. That is why people can work at home online with technology without ever leaving their house except to pick up the kids from school or go to the grocery store.

It does not matter who you are or where your from and how old you are, literally everyone could work at home online. Many high ranking service providers work at home online. Some people just get paid surfing the internet to make money online. Some people carry out various job tasks for other big name companies to earn their pay on line. A lot of opportunities await the person who chooses to work at home online. Affiliate programs, which is selling other companies products to people you can make money online. The real value though of work at home online businesses is owning one of your own.

There are so many advantages when people work at home online. The number one factor is called time leverage. Nobody has to report to a boss unless you work for a company that has weekly or monthly quotas this is major disadvantage not having the right work at home online business. The everyday hustle and bustle of corporate america or brick and mortar business is no longer a factor. Plus the traditional 9-5 job is not looming over your head. You are letting go of that daily routine which involves the headaches and the stress of being accountable to someone else. When someone works at home online they have the freedom to to do whatever they want when it comes to the amount of area they work in.

They are not restricted by rules or regulations surrounded by a traditional business setting. You set the hours you want to work and the amount of productivity that comes along with that. When people work at home online their efficiency rate is much higher because they choose the how, when and why factor for them and their family or situation. Working Home online you now become the President and Ceo setting the standards and rules.

If you are not productive then their is only one person to blame. By the end of the Week if you did not earn that big commission or paycheck it was based on how you leveraged your time. But that is the beauty of working at home online, you will be able to say goodbye to that big boss forever. That is why it is so awesome to work from the comfort of your own home or apartment.

However i do want to say the advantages of working at home online are great but at the end of the day only one person is held responsible. That is you! Your business from home can not be treated as a hobby unless you are looking for that kind of return.

C.P. Hia writes devotionals for the daily devotional booklet, Our Daily Bread, distributed by Radio Bible Class (RBC) Ministries. In the devotion for Dec 29, 2009, Hia wrote about a time when he was working at a petroleum company in Singapore. An inspector from a war torn country visited to check on a cargo of oil. When the inspector heard fighter planes overhead, he instinctively ran for cover because he thought he was back home.

Habits are hard to break, especially when we find ourselves reacting in response to a familiar situation or circumstance, just like the inspector when he heard the fighter planes.

Being an entrepreneur, however, requires us to develop new skills and habits. We have to get past the resistance of doing something different. It’s very easy to fall back into old habits, especially when you are still in the same circumstances and situations that made you decide to become an entrepreneur in the first place.

Our challenge is to adopt new habits, skills, and ways of thinking that will move us forward to success, a new mindset. So how do we develop a new mindset and take up new old behaviors…by association, personal development, and action.

Hanging out with other successful people will put us in an environment that breeds success. As the saying goes, you become like the people you hang out with. Although being in the physical presence of people you want to be like is ideal, it’s not always practical. But what you can do is read books and listen to audios of successful people, and plug into teleconferences held by successful people in your business.

Personal development is critical to developing new skills. Most new entrepreneurs have, quite frankly, never been an entrepreneur. You have to think differently because now you’re the boss with no one else to answer to but yourself. This requires being responsible for things you may have never even considered before. That’s why education is critical when starting your business. Hopefully your business has a support team and system that will teach you the skills needed to build your business.

Ultimately, the only way to actually build your business is to take action. You are responsible for doing something with the resources available to you. You most likely will have to do things you never have done before or do things you think you’re no good at. Remember, others have gone before you and succeeded. You can too. Constantly remind yourself that the more you do things that are initially uncomfortable, the better you’ll become, and you will get results.

One of the toughest challenges of becoming an entrepreneur is evolving into an entrepreneur. It requires new thinking, behaviors and activities that take time to develop. You have to overcome your current circumstances, familiar situations, and habits to get started on your journey. By associating with other successful entrepreneurs, developing your skills, and taking action, you’ll put yourself on the pathway to success.

Happy Business Building,
Yoli

I have been an employee in America for over 30 years.  Most of that time has been spent in the corporate job culture, helping business owners run and build their business.  For years I strived to be a good employee.   I worked hard and did my best to show companies my value, while helping them grow their business.I became a very valuable asset that business owners utilized and took advantage of.

In corporate America, you work hard and do your best for your entire career.  You commute, work long hours, ignore your family, acquire excess stress, work to ensure that you keep your job AND that you save for the future of your family and your retirement.  All of a sudden you find yourself asking - what am I doing here? And how can I build a better life financially for myself and my family?

This is how I define the employee mindset.  You spend most of your time striving to work hard for others while needing to continue to prove your value so they will keep you employed.  You think that high taxes come with the territory, and that the government will help you later in life if you don’t have enough retirement money saved up.  You have heard that Social Security is running out, but figure it won’t happen before you need it.  You run your 401k in parallel with a volatile stock market with very little financial education, hoping it holds together until you can get to it.  You live in fear of losing your job, hoping that if you do you will find another company that will be nice enough to hire you and recognize the value that you bring.

As an employee, I rarely questioned what was right for me and my own business, the corporation of ‘Scott Inc.’.   When I started to focus on ‘Scott Inc.’, my thoughts were rooted in thinking about my retirement.  I was at the nice middle-age of 45.  I had some money in my 401k, had some savings, and had lots of consumer debt.  As the economic and business worlds moved into turmoil, I started to question how I could ensure a better future for myself and my family.  I knew that what I had been doing was no longer working and that I needed to change how I did things. I had to figure out how to become wealthy enough to be independent of corporate America and our government – and to focus on me as an asset to MYSELF.

During this process, I learned that big business owners in America have the biggest tax advantages.  They are able to keep more of their money because of how it is made, and then put money from their business into investments that can be tax deferred.  With the right investments and strategies, money works for them, not the other way around.  Business owners depend on themselves to grow their business and make it thrive – and ultimately control their own destiny.  This was the goal I was trying to achieve – be in control of my own destiny.

I made the transition from wanting to change the employee mindset to wanting to become a business owner and entrepreneur – but it took longer to retrain my thoughts to start thinking like a business owner and not an employee.  Never having run my own business, I didn’t know how to make this transition.  I researched everything from my own web design business to making soap to selling products on EBay.  I looked into real estate investing quite extensively, but I didn’t have a passion for that full time.  In numerous places I read that Network Marketing was a good place to start your own business.  Good network marketing companies will train you, and they will work with you to help you be successful and move your mindset into becoming an entrepreneur.I thought this would be a good place to start building my own business and become an entrepreneur.

Network marketing is an excellent choice for those ‘employees’ that are looking to get out of the corporate rat race and start their own business.  It will teach you how to run and manage your own business, how to sell, how to take rejection, and how to be responsible for your own destiny.  The product that you sell does not matter as much as the training, the community, the mentorship, and the integrity of the company.  You can also do network marketing part time, keeping your day job while you make the transition from employee to business owner.  Consider joining a network marketing company to help you move from an employee mindset to a business owner mindset, while gaining control over the future for you and your family.

Have you always wondered why there are very few millionaires out there. Have you ever wondered how they got to the point where they have the freedom to do what they want? After applying this technique you will know exactly how to achieve the freedom you desire.

The mindset is simple in theory but actually applying it to your life can be a challenge. There are many things that can get in the way like fear, doubt, procrastination, failure, and many more. But let me ask you this, do you think millionaires around the world have experienced these same setbacks or mental conflicts? While they might be different for every person there is one thing all millionaires have in common.

THEY JUST DO NOT GIVE UP!

No matter what happens in their life they have a driving desire to succeed and achieve the outcome they ultimately seek. I heard an amazing quote from Winston Churchill that said “Success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.” I could not agree more. The second you let your fears control you is the second you say goodbye to your dreams.

You might be asking “So how can you start changing this right now?” I’m so glad you asked. One key to this is to put more positive thoughts into your head than negative. Sounds simple enough. So hundreds of times a day you need to say out loud “I like myself, and I will reach my goals and life dreams.” Or something to that effect. The main goal here is that you back this up with pure emotion.

By mastering this simple millionaire technique you will last much longer than your friends and peers around you making you stand out and ultimately not being like everyone else.

Is this YOU today?

Unemployed, under-employed, laid off, terminated, need a career change, retired, beaten down, beaten up, burned-out, bored or just plain exhausted?  Tired of living a life of reaction and want to live a life of true freedom, then read on…

ARE YOU SEARCHING FOR A WAY OUT OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF YOUR LIFE?

Hi, I’m Dawna Miller and I’ve found something that has made me passionate about my life again.  I’ve achieved a lifestyle of intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual balance that I never dreamed possible!

I’m a former C-level executive with over 20 years of back breaking experience in trading time for money within the Financial Services industry.  But no matter how dedicated an employee or high I was on the food chain, I kept finding myself on my rear end and in the unemployment line.  I bet you can guess what happened next, yep, in my early 40’s I found myself a single mother and unemployed for the third time in my illustrious career!  I was done with the “corporate rat race”; I knew there had to be a better way.

That’s when I made the most significant decision of my life!  I decided to invest in the most important asset I own – myself.  This decision and the action I’ve taken have literally transformed my life and I know it can for you as well.

Did you know?

The unemployment rate in the United States has taken the biggest jump since 1986?

The USA Today recently reported that the greatest fear in America today is running out of money BEFORE retirement?

Recently, Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki in their New York Times best seller “Why We Want You to Be Rich” said:

“The rich are getting richer but America is getter poorer.  The middle class is shrinking.  America is becoming a two-class society.  Soon you will either be rich or poor.”

I don’t know about you, but this is horrifying to me!  If you want to be on the winning team (TEAM RICH), then you need to take decisive action NOW!

So what do you do?  Take control of your future and stop the insanity of trading time for money!  Invest in yourself for yourself and your family.  Only through developing yourself can you obtain a lifestyle of balance.

I passionately believe:

MINDSET = POWER

EDUCATION = EMPOWERMENT

LEVERAGE = TIME

ASSOCIATION = WEALTH

In order to succeed, we must first believe that we can. – Michael Korda

The first step to understanding how to achieve a lifestyle of balance is to harness the power of your greatest asset – YOU!  Let me ask you, when did you stop growing?  Most of us would answer that question based on when we physically stopped growing, but my question is when did you stop growing intellectually?  Most adults stop actively developing their intellect once their formal education ends.  Wow, that’s a bit scary!  But true.

Very few of us actively pursue education past what we see on TV or the internet.  AND, we don’t even question the information we devour as truth or fiction because we accept that if it’s on TV or posted on the internet then it MUST be true.  This is social conformity at its best.

Now put your thinking caps on here, because I know I had to and consider this…

YOUR MIND is capable of so much more than you can possibly imagine, but most of us are too lazy (excuse #1 if your honest), too busy (excuse #2 and still not valid), or just too “plugged in” to the “norm” (excuse #3 if we admit it) that we don’t recognize the potential to change the direction of our lives lies right between our ears.  Your mindset controls your belief system and your belief system controls your actions.

So what’s the secret to gaining control of your mindset?  First, you must accept full and total responsibility for your life, you are where you are because of choices that you’ve made either consciously or subconsciously, there are no victim’s of circumstance only those that chose to be victim’s of circumstance, because the world does not owe you a thing!  Second, you must take conscious authority over your life.  This is your life, not someone else’s.  Only by exercising your authority can you move toward…taking control of your life.  You are in the driver’s seat, so get out of the back seat and drive!  You are what you believe, you believe what you think and you control what you think!

If you want to stop the pain of living a life of reaction and experience the pleasure of living a life of unbelievable balance and freedom, I challenge each and everyone to unplug from the mind-numbing conformity of circumstance and empower your life.  Take the first step and harness the power of your mind!

“Free your mind and the rest will follow.” En Vogue

Find the freedom of being “unplugged” and remember all of YOUR potential comes from within!

Dawna Miller

Who is Dawna Miller? A cardholding member of the SNCA (“social norm conformist’s anonymous” – I made that up and I’m the only member) for recovering “social norm conformists” and former advocate of the “victim of circumstance society” (I made that up too), until I decided to take responsibility for, authority over and control of my life. My mantra: The world doesn’t owe me anything, so if I want it I have to get it myself! Through harnessing my own mindset and unleashing my own potential, I have finally achieved a lifestyle of intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual balance. How do you think of your restaurant?

Are you thinking too small?  What are all the ways that you can use your restaurant?  What are all the ways you can use your resources, your staff, and your expertise to make money?  What are all the things you can do with everything you have available to you?

Don’t have an antiquated thought process of the restaurant business.  Don’t think that you have to get everyone to come in to your restaurant.  Times have changed and people are eating in many different ways.  They’re now microwaving things at home, running kids off to sports practice, eating in the car, etc.

There are many ways you need to think about in which your guests want to purchase food or have a wonderful dining experience.  Don’t limit this by what you thought of this business 20 years ago.   Think big.  Think in different ways.  Stretch your ideas and your thoughts.  Think outside the box.  You can accomplish so much more than you realize.  The people that are most successful are the ones that will change with the times.

Think big in terms of money and how you can sell what you create.

If you can imagine it, if your mind can conceive it and believe it, then you can achieve it.  As Walt Disney said, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible”.

You are only limited by what you believe and what you think.  If your thoughts are too small, that’s what’s manifested.  If your thoughts are big, you can manifest those thoughts.

What would you do to have a day like this:

You drive to your beautiful new restaurant that’s on the corner of the busiest intersection in town. You have a big sign out front. The lot is full of cars and a line is forming at the door just to put their name on the list to be seated.

You walk into your restaurant at your usual time of 11:15 and look at the reservation book. It’s packed. Your manager says that he’s already had a few calls this morning from customers wanting to get “last minute catering orders” (which of course you squeeze in, on your terms). You’re already over-booked for this week.

Next week is already filled up too. What a great feeling! You can remember when this was your business for the whole month, not just a couple of days. You’ve got great managers to handle the ‘business stuff’ and have excellent staff handling the ‘service details’

So what’ll it be this afternoon — golfing or fishing? Hummm???

Now this is what it is to have fun as a restaurant owner! If you have to drag yourself out of bed in the morning because you hate to go to work or if you’re working like a dog early morning till late at night, you might as well go get a J.O.B working for someone else — hell, life’s too short!

Running your own business should be mentally, emotionally, and most of all — financially rewarding, with plenty of time to take off to go out and enjoy life!

Upholding the Entrepreneurial Mindset

Barb on October 11th, 2009

Achieving the entrepreneurial mindset is one thing; retaining it is a whole other game. It is such a powerful device in the world of online business however you should do everything in your power to ensure you never relinquish its capabilities.

If by now you are practicing the traits of the entrepreneurial mindset, it most likely means you have reached a certain level of success in the business world. Now is the perfect time to re-evaluate your company and your own business-minded make-up. Ask yourself why you started your business? What goals did you set for yourself? Did you achieve those goals? Are you still providing the level of service or the quality of products you set out to promote? All of these questions can help you better understand whether or not you have maintained the initial level of commitment you made to your customers and your business.

It is not unheard of for entrepreneurs to lose their way on the road to success. Do not allow yourself to be distracted by greed. Such allowances can sometimes lead to a giant overhaul of your business. Remain true to your company’s original values and business plan. Establishing longevity and loyalty amongst customers is a difficult but rewarding factor of the entrepreneurial mindset.

So much of business is trial and error. Even the most established and successful entrepreneurs experience failure at some level, some even after they have already achieved that primary level of success. It is vitally important that you simply use the opportunity to learn from your mistakes. A state of sheer panic achieves nothing except to plant a seed of negativity or doubt. In doing so, you may also begin to question your own capabilities and the strengths behind the entrepreneurial mindset. Trust in its abilities, have faith in your own instincts and take each of your missteps in stride if you hope to retain this effective line of thinking.

Remember to adopt a fearless and risk-taking attitude. Testing new products or trying out new marketing devices can reinvigorate not only yourself but your company as well. It helps reaffirm the powers found within the entrepreneurial mindset.

Find the entrepreneurial mindset in you

Barb on September 29th, 2009

Day to day entrepreneurs always seem to find opportunities and act on them, while others fail to act even though they see those opportunities as well. It takes a doer to realize any kind of success in this world.

We all live in a physical world; we all obey the same laws of physics. Gravity works the same way if you are from Asia or from South America or if you throw yourself off a tall building or a chair, you’re still falling till you hit the ground.

The fact that we will fall if we jump off of anything, we already know, but what we don’t know is what will happen tomorrow. Another law that takes place in our physical world is that everything changes. So, if there ever was an opportune time to do anything, that time is right now! You don’t know if the conditions will be the same tomorrow and you would have missed the opportunity entirely.

That’s how an entrepreneur thinks and more importantly, that’s how an entrepreneur acts!

And they don’t look at every business move (and I said business move not business idea – see the action there?) as a do-or-die for their Internet Marketing business or any other business they are into.

There are no sentimental attachments. Just because you have worked hard on a product or an idea, and it feels like it’s your baby, you have to put your business goggles on and be very objective. Cut all the unprofitable business moves out of your portfolio.

And speaking of business moves portfolio, that’s what you should have. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket, and then see which one hatches.

Practice makes perfect! Don’t expect not to make wrong moves from the start. You will make bad moves even when you’re well experienced. We all learn from mistakes. If there weren’t any mistakes, we would never grow. Just look at them as exactly what they are, growing opportunities.

And don’t spread yourself too thin! Do not take on more than you can handle. The biggest mistake you can make is overestimating yourself and your online business capacities. Patience is a virtue that has to be part of your portfolio.

Can We Even Control Our Mindset?

Barb on September 26th, 2009

Or are we are the whim of our minds and have no way to do anything about it?

It seems that some people are naturally positive and others are much more negative. Even in the same family, there are some members who usually see the good side of things and others in the family that just think that the worst thing will happen in everything they do. And then there are those who are a balance of both. At times they are very positive, then without even knowing why, they are extremely negative. And then there are those that, upon meeting new people, will spend some time evaluating the other person before settling on a positive or negative stance (this is often subconscious).

Have you ever been with someone who is very negative and suddenly you find yourself being very negative too. It is very easy to fall into that trap, and takes some little adjustments to mind and will to get on top of this insidious mindset.

Being negative or positive is a choice, always choose to look for the good in any situation or person, as there is always good there if you look hard enough for it.  Remember you possess the power of your own mind to be either positive by the effort of the will, and it is also true that you are able to allow yourself to fall into a low, negative state by choice of a weak will. Many more people live in this mindset, however, a positive thought vibration is much more powerful than a negative one and therefore helps to create balance.

The fact that we can raise our mental levels is one of the secrets of the autosuggestions and affirmations community.  While there is no merit in affirmations, however, they do tend to raise the mental vibration (or thought vibration, or mindset), plus they also help to establish new mental attitudes and mindsets in us.

Affirmations are not new; we do them all the time. When we say things like, “I can’t do such and such” or “I’m too whatever”, we are making affirmations. Those affirmations are creating thought vibrations that bring about what we are continually affirming. We should never allow ourselves to be drawn into other people’s mindsets, especially those with negative mindsets. If we can raise ourselves to higher thoughts, then we will change our lives bit by bit. As we do this over time, we will just naturally gravitate to more positive minded friends and create more positive conditions and circumstances happening regularly in our lives.

Everyday I make an extremely important choice when it comes to filtering all the info and news that I absorb, and I most definitely suggest that everyone do the exact same thing.  After all, the more mainstream media has their job to do, and that job is to get all of us to absorb the news that they create for us.  I believe that the majority would definitely side with me in my thinking that the mainstream media wants to sell us all on the sad stories and the impending doom.  They don’t particularly want us to hear all about the great things that occur in our world’s and our country’s economy.

That’s not to say there isn’t bad stuff thats going on out there.  There certainly is.  And they can definitely affect your business, but if you make the decision not to absorb all of that negative news you’re going to have an easier time absorbing the good news.  As a result, your mindset will be affected in an excellent way.

As an example, don’t listen to the news from the cable guys and the networks.  Seen the Headlines from the prominent papers?  Small wonder that they’re also going out of business.  Keep an eye on what you read and what you allow yourself to listen to.  Absorb the good news thats out there.  Like, for example, all of the success stories you can find in syndicated news that is focused on entrepreneurs.  Places like Fast Company, Harvard Business Review, Inc. Entrepreneur, and Fortune Small Business, for example, are great places to get your news.

We all have options in how we set our filters when it comes to what sorts of information and news we take in each day.  We can set our filters to get rid of all the junk and only let in the good stuff.  We can choose to hang out with successful, cheery, and positive entrepreneurs who are continuing to be successful and growing all the time despite the current bad in the economy.  If you position yourself properly you too, can grow in our current environment.  There is just so many amazing success stories and great opportunities today to start and grow businesses.  All it takes is proper focus and a positive outlook.

Make the decision to be positive and you’ll see some amazing things happen.

Much like the ripples made when a stone is thrown into the water, so is our mindset. However, our thoughts move in every direction from a static or common center, similar to the sun’s rays, whereas the ripples on water made by a stone only spreads out on a level plane in every direction.

Unlike air, though, these mind properties have the ability to produce themselves and resemble sound waves. If you can imagine how a note of the violin can result in a fine glass to vibrate and even “sing”, so our thoughts also have the ability to effect those around us.

If our mindset and thoughts have been those of love, trust, happiness, forgiveness etc, then these bring to us people who have similar thoughts and think the same way as us. However, if our thoughts are those of hate, envy, jealousy, revenge etc, then these also bring to us people and circumstances that reflect those thoughts also.

We are mostly that which we have thought about, and created it into existence. Some say, we are what we think. The Bible says that we sow what we reap. It is all the same, we bring into our experience that which we habitually think and ponder upon, these are attracted to us and then we wonder why we attract what we do to us.

When we continually focus on positive, uplifting thoughts, then we also find that we seem to be immune to the negative aspect of life. Yes, sometimes bad things happen to good people, but we find that we don’t focus on the bad things in life and they are soon gone. So, you could say that if we think success, we are more likely to get there than someone who is a constant worrier and seems to see the bad in any situation.

Positive people believe that somehow good can come out of even the most devastating event. Because they look for the positive, they find it, whereas those who don’t look, don’t find.

So, we find that thought waves do reproduce themselves so to speak, and we can see that today with the many wireless devices and gadgets that we all have or have seen. Things like wireless internet, cordless telephones, mobile phones, etc. These all send our waves over a distance.

Marconi was labelled as crazy when he suggested the wireless radio. Just because we deny that things like this are possible, does not negate their very existence.

So, can you see now how your thoughts may be able to attract others with similar thoughts? This is simply the law of attraction in action.

Our thoughts can even attract circumstances similar to what we are afraid or thinking about? Just stop now and try to remember what you have been thinking about. If you find that difficult, then look at your circumstances, these are
what you have attracted by your mindset over a period of time. If you are broke, then your thoughts are broke thoughts. If you are sick, then your thoughts are sick thoughts. If you are unhappy, then you have been having
habitual unhappy thoughts. Scary hey?

This is how the law of attraction works, our mindset is responsible for our life experience. We have no one to blame but ourselves and that makes us accountable for our thoughts, our life, our finances, our successes and our failures. Yet, knowing this, we now can do something about it. We can make a decision to choose better thoughts and we can start right now, this moment.

After all, our life experience is our choice, we can choose to be happy while others around us are fearful, we can choose to be a success while others have their pity parties. We can choose to enjoy life and see the
beauty and wonder of every moment while others complain and whinge about the slightest thing. It is our choice.

Today, make a commitment to choose love, success, fun, joy, happiness, wonder, beauty and all the good things in live. Practice this for a month and you will see a huge difference with your life and others will comment
and wonder why you seem different.

Til next time
Enjoy

Law of Attraction and the World of the Mind

Barb on September 12th, 2009

Is the Law of Attraction a valid universal law and what does it have to do with the mindset?

Our world is ruled by universal law.  We have heard this before, but we are totally unaware of certain aspects of it. Things are becoming clearer over time as more people are learning about it and becoming interested in the Law of attraction, possible due to the release of the movie “The Secret”.

While we know a lot about the law of gravity, yet we just are so unaware of the law of attraction and it is equally valid and works just as sure as the law of gravity.

We acknowledge the law that holds all the atoms of matter together, or the law that attracts bodies to the earth, or that keeps the universe working as precisely as it does, yet we totally discount the law of attraction that attracts the things we desire or fear to us.

It is scientific fact that our thoughts are actually a force, or a manifestation of energy which has a magnetic power to attract what we are thinking about whether they are something we strongly desire, or strongly fear.

The vibrations that our thoughts send out are as real as the vibrations that manifest light, electricity, magnetism and light, yet these vibrations are not noticed or acknowledged by our five senses. The fact that these vibrations are not picked up by our five senses is absolutely no proof that these vibrations do not exist. They do, and we know they do, however, we just don’t see, smell, taste, feel or hear them. We know that magnets are powerful and they send out vibrations that will either attract a piece of metal, or repel it by the same vibration. The thought vibrations are the same yet we cannot see, taste, feel, smell or hear them either.

Have you ever felt “bad vibes” or “good vibes” when entering a new place or going somewhere different or even meeting someone? Some people are more sensitive to this than others and can actually “read” psychic impressions about a person or place. Or have you ever felt that something was wrong with someone even though they were a long distance away? And you found out that your feelings were correct? Phenomena like this and even telepathy are facts and not just imaginings by mentally challenged people.

Actually heat and light are the result of vibrations far lower in intensity than thought vibrations, the difference being in the rate of vibration.

Here is where science can reveal some interesting facts regarding this subject. Here’s a quote from Professor Elisha Gray who was a very eminent scientist, in his booklet, “The Miracles of Nature”.

Quote – “There is much food for speculation in the thought that there exist sound-waves that no human ear can hear, and color-waves of light that no eye can see. The long, dark, soundless space between 40,000 and 400,000,000,000,000 vibrations per second, and the infinity of range beyond 700,000,000,000,000 vibrations per second, where light ceases, in the universe of motion, makes it possible to indulge in speculation.”

Another quote - “There is no gradation between the most rapid undulations or tremblings that produce our sensation of sound, and the slowest of those which give rise to our sensations of gentlest warmth. There is a huge gap between them, wide enough to include another world of motion, all lying between our world of sound and our world of heat and light; and there is no good reason whatever for supposing that matter is incapable of such intermediate activity, or that such activity may not give rise to intermediate sensations, provided there are organs for taking up and sensifying their movements.” By M.M.Williams

The fact that thought waves exist is not necessary to prove anymore as it is pretty well accepted universally, however, the above quotes may wet your appetite for more and help you to learn more about the law of attraction as well as other universal laws for your own success and happiness as well as those around you.

Thoughts are Things – How Does That Work?

Barb on September 12th, 2009

How to make your thoughts attract abundance, success and happiness.

Have you heard the saying “Thoughts are Things”? With the release of the movie “The Secret” a lot of people have now heard that statement. But what does that mean and how can we understand and utilize this to our best advantage?

When we fully understand and comprehend the truth of the statement, things start to become clearer for us and we find that we are able to utilize this wonderful thought power, or thought force the same as we do any other form of energy.

The thought vibrations that we set into motion are just as valid as light vibrations or heat, sound, electricity vibrations. Becoming a student of this subject, helps us to use all the different forms of vibration to our advantage in our daily lives.

Consider the vibration of sound waves. A lot of sound we just simply don’t hear, and yet certain animals and insects can hear them clearly and they can also be detected by delicate scientific instruments that we have invented.

And that is another thing, as we invent new instruments to measure vibrations of sound, sight etc, we discover many interesting things that we just didn’t know before, yet, the vibrations were always there even before we had some machine to measure them.

In the past, we didn’t even think about our thoughts actually creating our circumstances, yet, we can look at our results and find what kinds of thoughts we must have had to create them. And as we are sending out thoughts all the time, we are continually getting the results of these thoughts.

Our thoughts have the power to attract even the thoughts of others. Whether it is things, people, circumstances etc, we do attract what we focus or think about. Some people call it luck. But is there really such a thing as luck?

When we focus or think about love, then we usually attract to us the love of others. And the same is with thoughts of hate, envy, jealousy and anger. These thoughts send out a different type of vibration than the vibrations of love and then we wonder why we have bad luck, or circumstances, or people come into our live that are also focusing on hate, etc. We seem to gravitate to people like us, or people who think like us. Like attracts like. Or, you sow what you reap. Or, birds of a feather flock together. I guess you have heard these sayings before.

People who are filled with love just see love all around them, they see the beauty of life and people. Yet, the people who has hate in his heart seems to get all the hate he can handle and wonders why. Just like a wireless telepathy in the mind.

Maybe you know someone who wakes up in a bad mood and before long, the whole family are also grumpy. Or the person who just worries all day long, always seems to have a heap to worry about.

So, we really do create our own surrounds, and we usually blame others for it and all along it was us who did it to ourselves. There are people in this world who understand this law and refuse to participate in the calamity of others around them. They hold  calm, positive thoughts and become immune to the inharmony around them. You can choose to be in a good mood or a bad mood, you can choose to see beauty around you or disaster, you can also choose to see the good in people or the bad. Life is really a choice and once you make up your mind to see only good, then you will start to experience more good coming into your life. This law of attraction or thought attraction really does work, it’s a  law!

If you’re like me, you’re serious about career development. Now this doesn’t necessarily mean enrolling in graduate school and handing over thousands of dollars to earn a new qualification. But you’ll probably agree that some sort of investment is required to learn, evolve and advance in your career.

Well, whether or not you believe taking a course or going to college or grad school is worth it, what is beyond doubt is the need for continuous informal learning. Reading books, magazines, journals and articles… attending seminars, workshops and conferences… consulting with experts… joining professional associations… These are all activities that may or may not require much investment in terms of time, money and effort… yet are crucial to your ongoing career development.

On the other hand, if you don’t value your career development, you’ll close your mind to ongoing opportunities to learn because you “already know all that.” But the fact is, true professionals readily admit that they don’t know it all and that they are always looking for opportunities to learn.

Who would you rather be? Someone who closes their mind to new insights and deeper understandings… and therefore hinders their career development… or someone who strives to learn and grow and gets those promotions, new jobs, and all the rewards that go along with those achievements? Really, embracing and investing in ongoing learning is the only option. After all, learning is the only way to grow as a person (not just as a professional).

As an example, take the case of hairdresser who has spent 15 years cutting and styling people’s hair. You might think that by the 15-year mark this hairdresser would know what there is to know about hairdressing. But new fashions and trends indicate the very opposite: there are new techniques, styles, products and hairstyling tools being invented - and to be learned - all the time.

Consequently, if you were a hairdresser and took your career development seriously, you would constantly be reading the latest hairdressing trade magazines, attending hairdressing conferences and shows, and attempting new techniques, styles, products and tools.

In fact, my hairdresser is an example of this. She continues to learn and develop her skills and, as a result, is able to charge much, much more than what the average hairdresser can charge… the hairdresser who “knows it all” yet wonders why they are working in a suburban salon, earning minimal wages, and can’t get ahead.

Therefore, try to catch yourself whenever you start thinking that you know everything there is to know. Chances are, there is always something more to learn. And if you take this view, and embrace new ideas, perspectives and understandings, you will be able to evolve and grow too - not just as a professional, but as a person too.

What Is Personal Development?

Barb on August 24th, 2009

What Is Personal Development?

Personal development used to be a course taught at business and vocational schools around the United States.

It was long since held that self-improvement was an essential aspect of succeeding in a more and more competitive marketplace that left little room for those who would not be able to pull their own weight - usually because of self image problems.

Personal growth was considered to be the antidote to the possibility of failure very often experienced by job changers, vocation changers, and those who might embark on a new career at a more advanced age than most of their competitors in the marketplace.

Personal development was said to be effective in combining an individual’s innate wish for success with a change in the person’s mode of viewing her - or himself and also the way the person is portraying her - or himself to others.

NLP - neuro-linguistic programming - is one of the favored tools of the personal development movement. Since it offers a wide variety of tools and techniques, this application itself promises success simply because of its superior adaptability to the needs of the person seeking personal development.

For example, for those will simply performance anxiety problems, a large number of exercises will make an accomplished introvert out of a phobic introvert who is sent into stammering or excessive sweating bits at the prospect of speaking in front of a crowd.

For the person suffering from extreme anxiety the idea of meditation - well within the framework of NLP - will quite often yield amazing results.

While traditionalists might scoff at the idea of personal development simply because it is such a subjective exercise, it is noteworthy that many people sear by it and attribute their business success to lessons learned and exercises attempted during a personal development seminar.

Perhaps the most important aspect to remember when discussing personal development is the fact that it seeks to capitalize on a person’s good intentions.

These intentions may be the wish to succeed in business the innate need to be useful, or maybe just the wish to further the role of leadership a person has taken within a corporation or business.

The goal is to draw out the good intentions and turn them into marketable objectives which the client will be able to realize and develop further, so as to ensure that her or his confidence will grow enough to pursue the next level of professional development.

For those who are gifted with a go-get-it attitude, this need may be hard to understand, but suffice it to say that in a world where corporate success is hard won, and abilities have to be proven time and again, those who may suffer from a lack of self esteem have often found themselves relegated to the sidelines.

If this is you, it is also important to understand that you do not have to be on the sidelines, but that you have everything it takes to make it up the ladder of success!

Personal development may turn a lot of people off because of its image. You always see these self-proclaimed gurus, peddling their tape sets and e-books, telling you that you can be happier, become a millionaire, lose weight, learn to use superhuman powers and read “War And Peace” in 15 minutes… if you’ll just buy their CD set or e-book!

It’s no wonder this can turn people off. Personal development might seem tacky or new-agey to you, but if you look a little more closely at what they have to offer you, you might find something very useful there.

Personal development” basically means working on yourself. That’s it. It’s a pretty general category. It’s something that athletes, artists, celebrities and business owners all to in order to achieve their personal best at what they do. If you consider simply that personal development means doing what you do the best you can, it starts to make a lot more sense.

Maybe you don’t want the Maharishi’s 10-Day Weight Loss Hypnosis Program, or the Brainwave Machine that unlocks the millionaire giant within; but what about some tips and strategies to help you use your time better, deal more effectively with difficulties in your professional life, or improve your skills and abilities? Here are some common subtopics in the wide field of personal development.

Coping strategies. Stress is no joke. Little things that happen everyday can cause you a lot of frustration and health trouble. Everybody has their way of dealing with stress, but personal improvement can help offer you some new ideas for how to deal with little daily difficulties.

Getting the most out of everyday. Everybody could use more time in their busy lives. But honestly, if you had more free time, don’t you think you’d end up wasting it somehow? We don’t need MORE time; we need to use the time we have more effectively. Everybody I know could use a little help getting organized!

Overcoming personal problems. We all have little things that keep us from doing what we want to do, and they differ from person to person. Have you ever heard the saying “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom always to tell the difference?” Personal development can help you figure out how to deal and live with your own personal problems.

Dealing with difficult people. You are bound to have to deal with people at your job or in your family that give you a major headache. You can work on yourself so that you can handle other people and not let little things get to you.

Working around life’s obstacles. Things aren’t ever going to go the way you’ve planned, and you will always face difficult times. Personal development can teach you ways that you can handle life’s crises without destructive consequences. Nobody can totally go it alone.

Increasing your brain power. In your everyday life, you only use a small fraction of your brain. Wouldn’t you like to improve your memory, control your mind and get more out of your grey matter? Personal development can show you all kinds of new ways to use your brain. There’s a lot going on there that you don’t know about!

Probably the most important thing personal development has to offer is a way to stay positive. It’s not always easy to do. It’s much easier to develop negative patterns of thinking that only drag us down in the muck.

If you’re a skeptic, like me, surf the net a little and see what you find. Don’t be close minded; personal development may have something to offer you.

I understand you must fully believe in the law of attraction for it to successfully work for you. I need to know how I can make myself believe the system is true, and what exactly is the system? Thanks.
I haven’t watched the movie, I will soon. I’ve been reading on it and already know enough to get the hang of it but I’d like some reassurance.

Quantum Physics teaches that nothing is fixed, that there are no limitations, that everything is vibrating Energy. By understanding that everything is Energy in a state of potential and by applying the Law of Attraction to bring into our lives what we focus on, it is never necessary to feel stuck with an undesirable life. With quantum physics, science is leaving behind the notion that human beings are powerless victims and moving toward an understanding that we are fully empowered creators of our lives and of our world.Everything is Energy.

If you take your hand and put it under a proper microscope, you will see a mass of energy vibrating, its not really solid.Nothing is…Not even your car, house, table, chair your sitting in,money, relationships!

Einstein’s 1905 formula E = mc2 explains the relationship between Energy and matter, i.e., that Energy and matter are interchangeable – that, in reality, everything is Energy – dancing, fluid, ever-changing Energy.

This Energy is influenced by our thoughts. It is shapeable, formable, and moldable. As Creators, we shape, form and mold the Energy of the Universe through our thoughts. We transform the Energy of our thoughts into the Energy of our reality

The popular movie, What the Bleep Do We Know!?, clarifies that quantum physics is the physics of possibility. We have been conditioned to believe that the external world is more real than the internal world. Quantum physics says just the opposite. It says that what’s happening on the inside determines what’s happening on the outside. It says that our world is shaped by our thoughts.

Since nothing is fixed and everything is in a state of potential, everything is possible. As we understand that everything is possible, and as we focus our thoughts on what we want to attract, we can literally call into existence whatever we desire.

The Universe exists as infinite potential in infinite abundance. As we focus our thoughts, we have the power to bring our desires into existence, our dreams into reality. As we focus our thoughts, we have the power to be and do and have whatever we desire.

Almost every religion tells us that we have been created in the Image and Likeness of the Creative Source, that should obviously mean that we have God potential and power to create our world, that we are indeed God like and have all the qualites of God. As God is omnipresent,God/infinite power/source/spirit must be present within every individual, hence every individual must be a manifestation of that Omnipresent, Omniscient and Omnipotent Consciousness…I am not saying we are God, but we are of God. So, its necessary to put ourselves in harmony with this law to reap its benefits, otherwise we suffer its consquences.

Mindset Of Successful And Wealthy People

Barb on August 22nd, 2009

If you want to be wealthy and successful, then just model after the successful and wealthy people and the way they think and behave. As any success coach will tell you, the successful and wealthy people get where they are because of certain fundamental believes. Some people call this system “The millionaire mindset“. The followings are some of the fundamental points of their belief system.

There is no such thing as failure. The outcome of everything is only results. Most people have been programmed to fear failure. Because of this fear of failure, many people impose limitations on themselves by thinking certain things can’t be done or is beyond them thus not doing anything to be successful.

On the other hand, the wealthy and successful people don’t see failure as failure. Successful people know that if they try something and it does not give them what they want, they have had a learning experience, not failure. With the earlier experience, they then take new actions and get new results until they are successful.

There must be a commitment to succeed. The wealthy and the successful believe in the power of commitment. They believe that there will be no great success without commitment. If there is no commitment in whatever one does, then how one be able to work on it until it is successful?

Take responsibilities. This is a great attribute the wealthy and successful people have in common. They operate from the belief that they are the ones who create their own world and their own destinies. They know that no one owes them a living. They will say, I am responsible for myself and whatever I do. So they do not shirk responsibilities.

Wealthy and successful people believe that no matter what happened, they have created that outcome. If you do not believe you are creating your own world, then you are at the mercy of circumstances. You are then living your life based on chance and it will always be a roller coaster ride, usually downwards.

Everything happens for a reason and a purpose and it serves us. Successful and wealthy people are able to focus on what is possible in any situation and what possible positive results that can arise from that situation. No matter how grave the situations are they only think of positive possibilities. They think that everything happens for a reason and it serves them. They believe that every adversity contains an equivalent or even greater benefit.

People are their greatest resource. They have a tremendous sense of respect and appreciation for people. They have a sense of common purpose and unity and thus relish in teamwork. They believe that there is no long lasting success without cooperation and team bonding with a similar purpose. Their success reflects the amazing things that can be achieved when we respect each other rather than manipulating one another.

Journaling For Personal Growth

Barb on August 21st, 2009

One of the best ways to gain clarity about your life is by journaling your thoughts and feelings. Especially if you’re feeling conflicted or confused about certain situations, writing your thoughts out can be incredibly enlightening!

You don’t have to be a “writer” to journal effectively. In fact, your writing skills don’t have to be good at all. Just the act of putting your thoughts into logical order and translating them to written form can help you to understand what you’re feeling, and why.

Here are some tips to help you use journaling for personal growth:

1) Keep it simple. You don’t need to spend a lot of money on a fancy journal. In fact, unless you’re an experienced journaler, I recommend using an inexpensive, lined notebook. Then you won’t feel so much pressure to be “perfect” in what you write. You won’t be afraid to scribble and scrawl whatever happens to flow onto the paper.

2) Don’t hold back. When you journal for the purposes of personal growth, don’t try to edit yourself, or make your writing understandable to anyone else. The most freeing technique is to put your pen to paper and just write whatever comes to mind. No one else will see it unless you want them to, so let ‘er rip!

3) Focus on the feelings. If you find yourself stumped about what to write in your journal, begin with the phrase, “I feel…”. This will usually get your thoughts and feelings flowing, and you will be better able to express them in writing.

4) Guided journaling. Another helpful technique is guided journaling, which means providing a prompt for yourself. Especially if you’re struggling with something specific, you can more easily get the words flowing with a nudge in the right direction. Some example prompts would be, “Describe your perfect career and the reasons it would fulfill you.” Or, “Think about the most painful experience in your past and write about the ways it has affected who you are today.”

5) Review your entries periodically. Going back to look at your journal entries can be very illuminating and provide amazing clarity about yourself. With time and practice, you will likely begin to see patterns in your thinking, behaviors, and beliefs. The most important thing is to keep an objective mindset while you look at your entries. Don’t judge or belittle yourself. Keep the focus on personal growth and development. Instead of beating yourself up or cringing over your latest rant, ask yourself, “How can I use this knowledge to improve my circumstances now?”

If you’re not a natural writer, journaling may seem like a lot of effort at first. But it is so worth it! Because I am a writer, journaling is something I’ve always done. As a child, I kept written diaries that focused more on my day to day experiences. “Dear Diary, today a cute boy smiled at me and I melted!” In my twenties, I decided I wanted to understand myself better, so I began keeping written journals with a focus on self-discovery. That practice has paid off in amazing ways over the past decade or so.

You can also keep journals for other reasons besides personal growth. For example, you can begin a gratitude journal to jot down a few things you are thankful for each day, which will help you to feel more positive about your life. You can keep a spiritual growth journal to record prayers and meditations that were effective for you. You can keep a dream journal to learn more about the messages your dreams hold. The possibilities are endless!

If you really don’t like writing with pen and paper, you can also keep an online journal in the form of a blog. There are many providers that offer free membership accounts, with easy-to-use interfaces. Two popular choices are http://Blogger.com and http://LiveJournal.com. However, if you keep an online journal, you might want to make it private so no one else can view it. It’s amazing what search engines can find nowadays, and you don’t want your neighbor or employer coming across your private thoughts. Most blog hosts allow an option to keep your blog non-viewable to the public. Or you can simply stay anonymous with your blog, but allow others to read it. Use a pseudonym and don’t give any identifiable information about yourself.

Finally, don’t feel that you have to follow any set rules with your journaling. Do what works best for you, and enjoy the journey! :-)

What your beliefs are and the way you think are the two defining factors that will determine whether or not you will have success with your internet business. These two defining factors are what is known as a mindset. A mindset is universally defined as a habitual or characteristic mental attitude that determines how you will interpret and respond to situations.

Two examples of individuals having incredible mindsets are Michael Jordan, and Tiger Woods.

Tiger Woods has a mindset and a core belief that every golf ball that he hits will go in, and every tournament that he plays in he will be victorious. All of his golf shots don’t go in and he doesn’t win every tournament, but is there any wonder why he has of this writing won 54 golf championships at the age of 30? It has to do with his mindset.

Michael Jordan is known as the best basketball player that has ever lived. But did you know that he was cut from his high school basketball team as a sophomore because at 5 feet 9 inches he was deemed to undeveloped?

Of course that did not deter him. He practiced even harder grew to 6 feet 6 inches and within the next two years became a high school All American. He went on to establish a distinguished career, which included hitting the last shot to win the NCAA college basketball championship, winning 6 NBA titles, 5 league MVPs and a slew of other accomplishments.

Why was he such a winner? Why did he dominate? Simply because of his mindset, he believed that he was a winner so he won, he believed that he was destined to dominate so he dominated. So let me ask you, what is your mindset when it comes to your online business? Do you have super goals or mediocre ones? Do you promote your business a little or a lot? Are you building momentum for your business or are you slacking off?

Whatever your case may be there is always room for improvement. For example, instead of being happy with a subscriber base of 5,000 people, develop the mindset and take the action necessary to acquire 50,000 subscribers, 100,000 or even 1,000,000 subscribers.

Don’t say that it can’t be done because there are people out there on the internet who have achieved those type of numbers. Remember it’s all about your belief system and the way that you program yourself to think. If you think that you can, and act on that belief chances are you will accomplish your goal.

So the message is simply this, when it comes to your online business, make sure that you develop a superior mindset that will enable your online business to prosper and grow exponentially.

Here’s a great question to cover today about the Law of Attraction.

It is difficult to believe that having a difficult boss, unemployment, terminal illness, sickness, unhealthy relationships, disobedient kids etc is the result of the things I say and the thoughts that I have. Can you explain how this works, it just doesn’t seem fair.

Answer

The Secret Law of Attraction is about attraction and attracting to yourself the things that vibrate the same as the vibrations you are emitting. Happy thoughts create happy vibrations, and in turn create happy situations.
Looking around you will see lots of different things, things you like, things you dislike etc. When you focus on these things you create similar things. For instance, when we refer to things you don’t want, what do you say or think? Do you give those thoughts much attention? If you have dwelt on things that you don’t want, you are most likely to attract it to yourself. Things like sickness, cancer, accidents, etc. If you are constantly saying and thinking about how unfair your boss is or how bad your kids are, then that is most likely what you will get.

To start, it is a great idea to list down the things you don’t want. Sometimes we just don’t know or have such low self-confidence that we just don’t believe we are worth good things. Plus, we have 2 minds (a subconscious mind and a conscious mind). These can be totally opposed to eachother. The conscious mind wants to be wealthy, and yet the subconscious belief may be that wealthy people are not good people, that they are crooks and to be like that would not be good. At least that is what we may believe down deep inside us. Even though on the surface, we don’t even recognize that there is such conflict.

As I mentioned above, to write down the things you don’t want as we often are very vocal about what we don’t want. Once that list is down, we now convert that to what we want. For example

Don’t Want - I don’t want to be sick
Want - I want perfect health
Focus on - Seeing myself healthy, vital, energetic and happy

Don’t Want - I don’t want to be doing this job
Want - I want to be doing work that I love and getting paid well for it
Focus on - Seeing myself working in an amazing place, doing things that I absolutely love and getting very generous pay checks for it.

Can you see how to do this now. So, get started and make your list out.

If not this - What? If not now - When?

What is the definition of personal growth?

Barb on August 20th, 2009

Question - I have to write an essay on personal growth and I was wondering what the best definition would be PLEASE HELP

Answer - In simplest terms I would say: it’s where you are as a person.

When you were very young you might like to play tic-tac-toe, and now you don’t. Why?
Because your perception has changed.

Now apply this to anything you do and this determines where you are in personal growth.

When you have a family you find you really like playing tic-tac-toe w/ you son or daughter. Why? You already know how to play? Because your sharing your time showing them something fun (to them) makes you happy as a parent. You’re connecting to them and not so much as who wins.

Later in life you see your children playing the game w/ their children and see their connection to each other and just having a good time w/ each other. You see where they are.

This is why I say; it’s where you are as a person. Some people stop changing and learning as people. Some people grow every day, no matter the age.

This is how I view it, good luck on the essay and I hope this helps.

Question - He has a crush on me but not dare to approach me. I know “law of attraction” stated that you may not be able to catch the attention of that particular person you’re infatuated with because that is against that person’s will. However, this person is already infatuated with me, he is just lacking the courage of asking me out. I have no courage to approach him first.

How do I apply law of attraction to this case? Will keep imagining the two of us together as lover will work in this case?

Answer - Well, yes. and also, you have to BELIEVE he will ask you out. Do this:
Close you eyes and imagine him coming up to you and asking you out. How would this really make you feel? Probably really really good. Well that is the key! You have to make it like it already happened, and you already have him wrapped around you finger, keep thinking it and visualizing over and over again of the scene of him walking up to you and asking you out. You can’t have any negative thoughts about it or it won’t happen the exact way you want it to. You can even do this. Set a date to when you want him to ask you out and It must be realistic (ex. don’t set a date for him to ask you out at the mall if your going to stay home that whole day) And if you don’t think this will work then don’t do it, you HAVE to believe it will work with all of your heart. Good luck, may the power of the Law of Attraction be with you! :]

Simple Steps to Personal Growth

Barb on August 19th, 2009

The secret behind personal growth is that there really is no secret. It is possible for you to change, grow and learn. To become the person you want to be, to do what you want to do, to have what you want to have. It is all about paying attention to some simple steps.

Below are just a few of the top ways to accelerate your personal growth and achieve what you want a whole lot sooner.

  1. Spend time to really think what you want, allow yourself the time to dream of your ideal life. This involves investing a bit of time to truly explore what you truly want and what your ideal life is like. If you don’t have a destination of what you want, how can you possible ever get there. It’s like going for a drive in the car and having no idea where you are going, you will never get there will you? Be specific and know what you want is the first step.
  2. Have a notebook or journal close by. Jot down your thoughts, ideas, plans and dreams. This helps in two ways, firstly you can record these things and have it for future contemplation and secondly, you can see pretty clearly if you are progressing at all toward you goals.
  3. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes, this is where you learn and grow. Mistakes happen and depending on how you react or deal with the mistake is whether you grow or dissolve.  Remember that a person who never makes mistakes, never learns anything and rarely ever does anything either. Embrace mistakes as they grow us faster than anything.
  4. Admit you don’t know everything, in other words, stay humble and teachable. You find a lot of people who are unteachable and act as if they know everything. When people tell you things refuse to say, “I know that.” This simple sentence stops you growing and also stops people even bothering to tell you things as they know you will only say that you know about that. Admit that you don’t know everything and you will be surprised at all the new things you will learn.
  5. Learn to increase self confidence by making contacts and interacting with others. The more you think about others and take your focus off yourself, you will gain self confidence in bumper doses. Having self-confidence is an important step to increasing personal growth. Having self-confidence will help you with opportunities that would otherwise slip by you.
  6. Make honesty your motto and that means being honest with yourself first. Also, be true to yourself and evaluate whether your dreams are actually your dreams and goals. They may belong to  someone else, like someone close to you or your family may have influenced you into thinking that it is your goal, when it is really theirs.  Honesty is indeed the best policy when it comes to personal growth.
  7. It has been said that the only things in life that will help you to grow are the people you meet and the books you read. Start to read good books, books on success, hobbies, health and business skills. You can start by subscribing to a good personal growth website and have regular newsletter articles sent to your email inbox regularly.  Just a little bit each day is more than enough as you will start to notice that you are thinking differently and you will get different results.
  8. Balance your life with family and friends. It is easy to invest so much time into improving yourself and your skills that you often tend to put your special friends and family in the far background. Make sure you spend time with them and balance your life. Often the lessons that we learn from family and friends are a growth in themselves.
  9. Always remain teachable. Everyone can teach you things. People come into our lives for a couple of reasons, maybe it is that we can learn from them or that they can learn from us.

A quote often quoted states that : “To get different results we need to do something different. And this starts with our thoughts, then our actions, then we get different results. It is pure insanity to expect different results and still do the same thing. If we do the same thing we get the same results.

Achieving Exponential Success

Barb on August 19th, 2009

Exponential success is the mathematical process of multiplying numbers. Remember your math days and the different calculations you used. Remember that 4+4=8 and 4X4 is 16 but 4 to the 4th power is 256. Same numbers still math, same amount of effort of do the math on a calculator but look at the difference in results. This process yields greater numbers than any other mathematical process. Some people are satisfied with minor success throughout their lives, adding to their lives a little at a time. Some people want to multiply the joy they have and the goals they want to accomplish. Learn to demand the most from life and achieve success exponentially.

You must to have the will to win. The desire to make the changes that will bring success and happiness. I will show you how to maintain and sustain desire and drive for your success, not a temporary solution but a lifetime of exponential success and happiness. It will be worth it but it does take some effort.

Just when the space shuttle goes into orbit it has to expend the most fuel getting the momentum to get out of the atmosphere. But once it gets into orbit it expends less energy. Just like ES it is hard at first then it becomes a natural process. Becoming successful is like starting to exercise. At first it starts to hurt and take a lot of mental effort to get to the point where it feels good and is exhilarating. Once you get past this point that is when the energy drive, and determination.

You need to learn to customize a success plan and to your needs, according to your talents, drive, personality, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. You can’t live exponentially by following a preset predetermined pattern that someone else uses. It will get you close and make you somewhat successful but won’t get you to live exponentially and find your own pattern you need to reach the pinnacle of your success potential.

When you find this pattern and your passion you will reach ES. You will have to be flexible and moldable as you discover the things that will bring you to true success. You have all the pieces you need to find the very best within you and bring you to the pinnacle of your success potential. You are one of a kind, therefore your success plan should be unique.

You want success and to be the best at what you do. No one likes living in mediocrity and not doing the things they know they are capable of achieving. No one likes to feel second class or under accomplished. Everyone wants to be recognized as being the best in something and having great talents and abilities.

We all want it, but why don’t we have it? The desire is there, but where is the action to bring you to the level of success we know we deserve and want? What are you waiting for? What is going to make it happen? Does success get easier the longer we wait? Are we waiting for an terrible experience to make us change our ways? Are we hoping for a miracle, the lottery or Publishers Clearinghouse to change our lives? Lets get started now today at this moment or statistics show it won’t happen.

For Example, It took you 10 years to gain 20 pounds and you won’t lose it over night. It took you years to get deep into debt and you won’t become financially independent overnight. This is a process and not a quick fix. You can’t plant your crops 2 weeks before harvest. You can’t prepare for a marathon 2 weeks before it starts. You can’t cram for a final one hour before it begins. You can’t save for retirement 5 years before it happens. You won’t be successful overnight just because you have the desire.

Dr says we find a need to lose weight and get control of our lives so we run out and get a weight loss system. We spend money on equipment and special food and get excited to lose weight. We know it is important and it will improve our lives but we don’t stick to it. It might last a few weeks, but it is slide back to our comfort zone. Sure it might happen for a few days weeks maybe even months but soon it is business as usual. Why?

It is not part of our customary pattern or natural process and we are not doing it for the right reasons or in the right way according to our individual unique psychology. You need to find out what works for you as a natural process, A natural process is something you can do, something you feel comfortable and exciting and internally motivated to accomplish. This is so we don’t have to strain and go against the grain to become what we want to become.

Your life is your own plot of ground. You can do what you want, plant what you want and you get to decide what you going to harvest or what type of weeds or infestation you will allow. Are you going to water? Are you going to be happy with your plot of ground or ashamed of your plot of ground? This is your choice.

You have started with desire to be and achieve the things you know you want. Desire is the difference between a average person and a high achiever. Be careful because desire and complacency tend to contradict each other. You must decide the complacency and comfort zone is the real reason you are not where you want to be. Sure you can come up with lists of excuses and rationalizations but if you are not on that list you have to back up and take full responsibility for who and what you are and become.

When I started to research success there are many words that start with self- (esteem, image, discipline.) We will get you out of your comfort zone and into the exponential success zone so you can reach your full potential. Learn to push yourself beyond your capabilities. Never cap your ability to be successful; you have never reached your best in all areas of your life. This includes your personal best, you can perform beyond your limits and skills. The plan will unfold a piece at a time. When you are ready to begin the success process the pieces of the plan begin to appear.

We just want to get in control of our lives be happy and find the success that is waiting for us. We leave with a good feelings and desire to make the changes but once we get back to life. There are setbacks we get back to business as usual. No long-term changes or happiness just the same old thing. Why,? We have not found out what it is that make us tick and how to empower ourselves to make that change. You need additional tools, the information was great but until you can put it to action, it has been a waste of time. You have to be able to implement these skills. Many times training can be a quick fix or short term results we want to make lasting changes in our lives.

We have to find that winning edge that will propel us to the top and help us to things we know we are able to accomplish. Once we can get ourselves to do the right things we can start working on success skills that make the difference. We can gain that winning edge the difference between top and average performers.

There are many quick fixes to encourage motivation and temporary excitement that work for a few days or months, but eventually after that initial feeling wears off we are back to square one and back to your comfort zone.

Get A Mindset To Attract Money

Barb on August 19th, 2009

Of the many personal development books on attracting money I have read, I have found a common theme on the basics of money attraction. Similarly, when you go online and search on the same subject, the same tips will be found.

So what is the fundamental foundation to attract money and wealth? It is your thinking and mindset that will set the stage for attracting money. So in order to be able to attract money naturally, you must learn how to use mindset to attract money.

You need to train your mind into believing that you already have what you wanted, and then your life will miraculously change to reflect your new belief. The following attracting money mindset tips may sound like mumbo jumbo hocus pocus to you, but they are common refrains from great money making gurus. They constantly repeat these 5 tips to train their mind to attract wealth and money.

Tip 1 - Act and behave like you are already rich. You must act and believe you have always wanted is already yours. In this instance, it is money. So act as if you already have the money you wish to have. Ask yourself, if I am already rich, what would I do, how would I act, how would I feel, and then act, feel and do it.

By behaving and acting rich, you are teaching your mind that you are expanding your limitations, and as you practice this you will begin to purchase more of the things you want in your life and the money will come to you to pay for them. Want to be rich, then do this. This is the law of the universe.

Tip 2 - Be thankful and show gratitude for any money you receive. To attract money, you must show gratitude for the money which is already in your life. Instead of complaining how little money you have, be grateful that you already have money and will have more and give thanks to God or whatever greater power you believe in.

The next time when you get some money, instead of barely noticing it, take a few moments to give thanks to the universe or God for bringing this money into your wallet or bank account. Every time you receive your paycheck or every time you earned some money do stop and appreciate the fact that money is flowing into your life. By being grateful for money flowing to you, more money will be attracted to you.

Tip 3 - Find a dime on the sidewalk, keep it. In order to attract money into your life, your subconscious mind must be open to the idea of money flowing to you. You must be open and receptive to any money coming to you from any moral source. If you see a dime on the street, and your usual reaction is probably to ignore it. By doing that, you are teaching your subconscious mind that you are not willing to put out effort for money.

Your subconscious mind cannot distinguish between a dime and a million bucks. All that your mind registers is how you feel and that thought will be stashed somewhere in your subconscious mind that you do not want to attract money.

This mindset can also come in many other forms such as whenever you do not accept a gift or do not charge someone for work done or charge them way less than you should be or you sell a product for less than it is worth, you are creating the same emotions. So if you want to attract money, you must accept the money that is rightfully yours including that dime on the street.

Tip 4 - Be open to money making opportunities
Ask yourself this question. Why it is rich people always have money making opportunities and that you don’t? The answer is that you are simply not looking for opportunities hard enough or when opportunities come along, you are too lazy to take them or are even skeptical.

The difference between rich and poor people is that rich people realize that new opportunities are always all around them. You simply need to keep a look out for the opportunities, keep an open mind, and be prepared to take advantage when the opportunity comes knocking and do open the door when opportunities knock. In this way, you will attract wealth and money naturally.

Someone once said, luck is when opportunity meets preparation. If you want to find money making opportunities in your life then you must be prepared to take advantage of them when they come. By doing so, you will be blessed with more incredible luck than you have ever experienced. Still skeptical? If you are, then you will hardly have any money making opportunies.

Tip 5 - Do something that makes you feel good
Do something that makes you feel good? I can hear you say that I don’t have to tell you this. Everyone also wants to do things that make them feel good. When you feel good, your energy and mood rises, you will feel optimistic and positive and these attitudes will attract more of the things into your life which make you feel good such as money and wealth.

Now that you know the mindset on how to attract wealth and money, keep these money making mindset tips in your mind and act on them daily. After a few weeks or months, just sit back and watch more and more money flowing to you.

Winning is Freedom

Barb on August 19th, 2009

Those who win consistently can exert their will on their environment. If you pay close attention, you will see winners shaping their destiny every day.

For example, winning leaders have the freedom to choose not only their path forward, but the path of the people who follow them as well. They can easily command and commit resources to their efforts. Allegiance to the winning leader is freely pledged by those who follow, as they know this leader is taking them to a better place.

Winning leaders need not suffer fools because they are the shot callers – setting direction, not taking it. The winning leader is free like few others. The winning builders of wealth use that wealth to determine their own fate. Their wealth allows them to be free of all debt, so they are not tempted to work against their best interest. They work not for need, but for love and passion for the work. They invest only as they wish in businesses, people, causes, or simply their family’s security.

The winning wealth builder is free like few others. The most accomplished in every field are able to blaze their own trail. The most accomplished winners in any field are scarce by definition, as only so many people can be great in any one area. They have skills, aptitude, and prowess that others value, if not desperately need. Their ability is always in great demand, affording them the freedom to choose their project and name their price. They are free like few others. Winning begets freedom and freedom has no equal.

Your freedom will come as you commit to winning. Winning is great all the time, its presence always “mo’ better” than its absence. Winning can mean more money, or more power, or more fame, or more respect, or more pride of accomplishment, or more of all of the above. These are all good reasons to want to win, but not nearly as good as being free. Those who win consistently have achieved a measure of freedom that many never will. They, first, freed their minds. With their minds free, these great ones do great things.

The most fascinating theme in any movie is the transformation of the main character, who evolves from a lower state of awareness to a higher one. Although this theme is repeated with minor variations in one movie after another, people do not tire of it because it represents their own story.

The meaning of life may itself be entirely about personal growth. Enlightenment is the final vision, where you see everything in a whole new light, with the universe and your neighbors as part of a massive conspiracy of beauty, elegance, love, and wisdom.

  • Personal growth happens by default.
  • Life itself forces it to happen.
  • The more stimulating the environment, the more it challenges you to accelerate your personal growth.
  • Personal growth can be defined as the evolution of awareness, a journey from a narrow, dysfunction perspective to a broader, functional one. It is an expansion of perception.

The reason why it can be thought of as an evolutionary force is because it is the result of adaptation to a stressor. All problems are due to an error in perception; a challenge is posed by the environment for you to adapt or suffer the consequences of failure.

For example, a poor state of health is due to a physical challenge, a rocky relationship is due to an interaction challenge, and a scarcity of finances is due to an economic challenge.

The reason it is a challenge is because it threatens your sense of well-being, and failure to
respond in a more adaptive way is to experience the collapse of what you need.

In a nutshell, personal growth happens when your inner map of how the world works is incorrect. You discover that your perception is inaccurate because your experience is misaligned with your desire.

What is needed is more information, an upgrade of your inner map. New streets need to be drawn in, new paths need to be discovered.

Every problem is an evolutionary taunt.

For example, if you are being financially challenged, what is needed is a new model on how to earn more and manage your money better. A bill that you do not have the means to pay is a financial challenge.

Adaptation occurs when new information is learned. This information changes the structure of the challenge. The result of your mental upgrade about what works now becomes your new model. Using the money example, new information may come in the form of learning how to make more money. This information is then available for you to respond to the world in a more functional way.

Life is constantly posing challenges like this and we are constantly learning how to adapt to these pressures. Each successfully resolved challenge is soon followed by another challenge at the next level. Each unsuccessfully resolved challenge results in your staying at your current level. It’s called “feeling stuck” or “in a rut.”

This is the process of personal growth.

The growth proceeds along two trajectories: vertical and horizontal.

Vertical growth is learning something new and the new knowledge then fashions a new reality. Our college years, with its academic challenges, is probably the time of the most accelerated personal growth. Similarly, starting a new business or raising a new family are all vertical growth experiences.

Horizontal growth is integrating this new information. You are adjusting to the changes stimulated by vertical growth.

Furthermore, this growth also advances on three levels: ego-centric, ethno-centric, and world-centric. Each is a developmental stage.

In the ego-centric stage, your focus is on improving your own personal experience. In the ethno-centric stage, your focus is on improving your group. This could be an ethnic group, a religious group, or a national group; in other words, any particular tribe that makes you feel that you are one of its members. In the world-centric stage, your focus is on improving things for everyone.

Each stage is not necessarily clearly delineated. The higher stage may incorporate some features of the lower stage. In addition, each stage is broken up into further developmental stages.

The more challenges you overcome, the more you evolve to inhabit a higher stage. In addition, each stage has sub-stages which have to be transcended.

Factoring in the idea of incarnation, most people may spend their whole life in only one sub-stage or may move through several sub-stages but not leave their main stage. Other people may evolve from one stage to another. A few, rare individuals move through all the stages. Those who hit the final sub-stage of the final stage are considered enlightened and do not need to stay on the karmic wheel.

  • These growth stages also apply to cultures and civilizations.
  • While growth happens by default; it can also be engineered, or artificially stimulated.
  • This process is called learning.
  • Throughout history, those who choose to be self-evolving, do it using two specific methods.

One is using the imaginistic aspect of mind and the other is through the linguistic aspect of mind. One can, of course, use both aspects of mind. Usually, however, most people have a predominant and favorite method. It is similar to how most people make one hand more dominant than the other, while only a few are ambidextrous.

Using the imaginistic method, or visual thinking, remarkable progress can be made.

Those with a scientific bent appear to favor this method. Kekule dropped off to sleep by a fireplace, had a dream about a snake swallowing its own tail, and developed the basis of all organic chemistry, the benzene ring. Einstein precipitated the biggest leap in Science since Newton by day dreaming about a train ride on a beam of light.

In terms of the Jungian model of the mind: this would incorporate intellect, intuition, feeling, and sensation. For example, Kekule had a dream, which includes intuition, emotion and a tactile sense. Upon awakening, he then used intellect to define the benzene ring.

This method of visual thinking is as powerful as the transition between Roman numerals and Arabic numerals. Using Roman numerals, for example, the mathematics needed to create String theory in Physics would have been impossible. Since, to date, String theory is neither empirical nor observable, it could not exist without mathematics. Considering that this may very well end up being a complete theory of everything, you will appreciate the value of the use of Arabic numerals.

Another method is the Socratic Method, which is about 2,300 years old.

The Socratic method is essentially asking and answering questions. Questions probe consciousness and stimulate a search for answers.

This method is not to be confused with the didactic teaching that is referred to as modern education.

The Socratic method was used during the era of Classical Greece and the Renaissance, two epochs that produced more highly intelligent people than has ever been known.

The reason these two methods are so powerful is because they disrupt “neuronal habituation” the phenomenon that with a constant signal, nerves and brain fall sleep.
Changing the stimulation causes the brain to start working in a new and unusual way.

Ironically, our current educational methods across the globe stimulate only a limited amount of personal growth because they result in the stabilization of signals, creating
neuronal habitation. Subjectively, people claim to fall asleep or drift into a day dream during a class session. They miss the lesson because the repeated signal created boredom and disassociation. It did not provoke them to move beyond passivity.

With these two methods, learning becomes interactive and stimulating, resulting in a quantum leap in personal growth.

You don’t have to wait for all the right conditions before you can experience vertical growth; you can invite it to happen through choosing immersion in new, stimulating, life-affirming information.

Have you heard of the movie The Secret? It is truly one of a kind. First off, it had a world premier on March 26, 2006 - not really something new BUT it was also heavily marketed as “a Worldwide Internet Event” because the movie was made available for online viewing. So what IS the movie The Secret all about? It’s about the Law of Attraction.

The Movie The Secret - Unlock the Potential of the Universal Law of Attraction
The movie The Secret is not really a ‘movie’ in the traditional sense of the word. It’s more like a documentary with people providing commentaries on how life success, relationship success, business success, and more can be yours if only you know how to leverage the law of attraction.

What is great about the film is that it is never boring. You sit there riveted as you absorb this particular success principle. Another great thing about the movie is that you sit there listening to so many successful people attesting to this success system that never fails, providing credence to what the film is trying to teach.

The Law of Attraction 101
Put simply, the premise of the Law of Attraction is that everything that is happening to you NOW is something that you attracted to yourself. As is constantly repeated in the movie The Secret - what you think about, you bring about. The Law of Attraction is not really something that is new. Even when we were young weren’t we always taught to ‘think positive thoughts’ to turn away any ‘negative vibes’?

So since we were children, we have been exposed to the success through a positive mental attitude mantra. This is partly why the film really reaches out to its viewers - it is touching a nerve that is not completely unknown. It is understandable and easy to grasp.

However, LIFE happens and our childlike definition of success gets muddled. The Secret shows us that we should go back to this state of success through a positive mental attitude and we WILL see results.

How to Practice the Law of Attraction
So how does one put the Law of Attraction into practice? The movie The Secret reveals three steps.

One: ASK.
Quantify what you really want in life. Don’t just say you want to be rich, be specific. However, having said that, don’t forget that success is a journey. Asking for a million dollars in the bank tomorrow is self-defeating (although… not impossible as any lottery winner will attest) because you are setting a goal that is almost impossible. The result? You are persuading yourself that this particular law of success is not working and you abandon it and perhaps go back to your negative way of thinking.

Two: BELIEVE.
Once you specify what you want in love, life, business or whatever aspect, BELIEVE that you will get it.

Many people put themselves down thinking they are not worthy of such high ambitions. Well you know what? You are! So start believing that you will achieve success and YOU WILL.

Three: RECEIVE.
The Law of Attraction is all about putting forth into the universe what you want… and receiving it. It can be tomorrow, next week or in a couple of years but you will receive it in due course.

How To Start Bringing Success In Your Life

The Attitude of Gratitude. Start putting out those positive vibes by starting each day with thoughts of what you are already thankful for in life. This will give your day a ‘happiness kick’ that no caffeine drink can produce! The positive energy that this exercise produces will carry out through your day and ATTRACT other positive outcomes.

Dress for Success. Put forth a successful aura and success will be attracted to you like a magnet! Our outer appearance is almost always a reflection of how we feel inside so if you dress sloppily, you are putting forth negative energy. However, no need to run to the mall to break the bank for clothes. How about just trying to smile more often? Smiling is one of the best (and cheapest!) ways to put forth positive energy.

If you have teeth problems preventing you from radiating a bright, cheery smile, FIX IT NOW. Visit your dentist or if it’s just dark-stained teeth, use an at-home teeth bleaching product. In short, don’t let anything get in the way of a great smile.

So what are YOU going to do now that you know about the Law of Attraction? Practice it. Remember, the universe does not like delay… so ACT.

What’s the deal with all this personal growth and self development business? Why bother in the first place? Charles Atlas who earned himself the title as the ‘the world’s most perfectly developed man’ had this to say: ‘Truest SUCCESS is but the development of self.

It’s so easy to treat personal development as ‘optional’ and so few people ever take the time to actively improve themselves. Your personal growth and self development is arguably one of the most important thing you can do with your time. You can even argue that to actualize your true potential is the purpose of being here. In many ways all your actions are geared towards ’self improvement‘. Everything you do, you do with a positive intent. This, however is mostly unconscious and for the majority of people it’s a case of pursuing ‘things’ and ’stuff’ with the (all to common) assumption that when they get enough stuff they will be happy.

You don’t have to search too far to find just how wrong this theory really is. Every day we read about ‘extremely successful’ people who end up in rehab or who kill themselves. Why? To return to Charles Atlas - true success is but the development of your ’self’. At no point in your life can you just stop and say ‘now I am successful - I think I’ll take the next 10 years off’. Unfortunately this is ‘the dream’ that so many people aspire to.

The key to a lifetime of happiness lies in personal growth. Real and lasting fulfillment in life comes from consistently improving the quality of your life. Life is dynamic and it has to keep moving. Like in nature, everything that does not grow, dies! You will either grow or die, and although you probably won’t die a physical death, you most certainly will suffer a psychological death. Depression is but one example of the effects of failing to grow as a person. If you are not growing you will feel like you are dying.

Every day life hands us opportunities to grow. They are mostly disguised as problems and unfortunately most people curse them instead of seeing the wonderful opportunities that they present. Earl Schoff once said ‘Don’t wish for less problems. Wish that you were better’. This is where personal growth comes to play and you must do it on purpose and with an active state of mind.

So why do people fail to actively participate in their own personal growth? Well, there are certain personal growth barriers that prevent them from actively progressing in any area of your life. The key word being ‘actively’. The three biggest personal growth barriers are three interrelated behaviours that tend to keep us immobilized and locked up in inaction. The result being the failure to progress with our lives.

Personal Growth Barrier #1: Procrastination

Procrastination is the irrational delay of tasks, especially important ones. On a conscious level you might want a specific result and you know what course of action to take, but still you remain immobilized. The failure to act is what keeps you where you are. It is likely that what you are procrastinating about is what you MUST do as this will help you grow in your ability to take action and just do it. Keep in mind that you only procrastinate about tasks that you value and at some level you know you will benefit from it.

Personal Growth Barrier #2: Indecision

Every single action is preceded by a decision. The ancestor to every action is a decision and the failure to act can be traced back to the failure to make decisions. The ironic thing is that not making a decision is a decision - isn’t it? Indecision is like a disease that you have to eradicate from your life. Indecision is simply the result of a fear of failure and by not making a decision you can’t fail - right? Realize that nothing in the future has happened yet and fearing the worse possible outcome will almost certainly keep you from making the decision. If you don’t make the decisions you won’t take the actions and you will remain immobilized.

Personal Growth Barrier #3: Comfort Zones

Comfort zones are all those things that you are too familiar with - and often to the point where you don’t even attempt anything else. Inside your comfort zones everything is known and you have this sense of certainty that you can comfortably deal with anything that comes your way. You’ve done it before and you feel ‘at ease’ with it. Stepping outside your comfort zones challenge your beliefs and it challenges your perceptions. Stepping outside your comfort zones however, challenges you to grow as a person - you have to grow to get comfortable outside your old comfort zone. Most of your limitations are self imposed and controlled by what you belief you can or cannot do, what you like or dislike, what you think is right or wrong. You have to keep stretching your ’self’ physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually to avoid standing still and remaining imprisoned by your comfort zones. Oliver Wendell Holmes once said ‘Man’s mind, once stretched to new idea never goes back to it’s original dimensions.’

All barriers are only that - they are barriers. It often strikes me how these typical vehicle barriers at boarder check points are so ‘flimsy’. They can hardly stop a bicycle, yet they stop big sixteen wheelers. The barrier is more psychological than actual. So are the barriers to your personal growth. They can stop you, but they can’t keep you unless you allow them to. Simply acknowledge them and then move on. Personal growth is a choice and it’s an active process. To ensure a happy and fulfilled life that is filled with joy and appreciation you have to consistently grow and expand your ’self’.

How to Adopt the Winner’s Mindset

Barb on August 17th, 2009

‘Everybody here has the ability to do absolutely anything I do and much more beyond. Some of you will and some of you won’t. For the ones who won’t, it will be because you get in your own way, not because the world doesn’t allow you’ Warren Buffett.

I start off with this famous quote by one of the richest man in the world Warren Buffett, the legendary multi billionaire who accumulated his wealth solely through investments. How would you like to be in control of your life and the results you create? To be able to change the people around you, the results you produce and even how you feel? Sounds too good to be true? Certainly not.

Most people blame their external circumstances for everything that does not go their way. They tend to attribute their failure to reasons like ‘The economy has been down’, ‘Luck has been cruel on me’, ‘My boss doesn’t like me’. However, the truth is, in order to succeed, you have got to take absolute responsibility for whatever happens. Only when you take full responsibility for whatever happens will you have the ability to change it. This is the secret to putting yourself into a position of absolute power. Therefore, stick by this motto: The extent to which you take responsibility over something is the extent to which you have control over it.

Therefore, ask yourself this question now ‘What is the reason you are not rich yet?’ If your reasons are something like ‘I’ve got no time’, ‘I’ve got no luck’, its time to change your mindset. You see, there are two kind of mindsets people can adopt. The first is the ‘Victim’s Mindset’. People with this mindset will give excuses whenever they fail. They tend to blame everyone or anything else except for themselves. They give excuses like ‘If only I have more time’, ‘If only my wife can be more understanding’. Therefore, they are often in a position of helplessness and they are not in control of whatever happens in their life.

So, since adopting the victim’s mindset is indeed detrimental to one’s success, why do so many people still choose to adopt it? The reason is because playing victim makes one feel good. Sure enough, whenever you are complaining about someone or something else, you tend to win a lot of sympathy. Similarly, complaining will also justify your failure and make you feel better. However, what people don’t realize is that it also robs ourselves of the power to take charge and change our destiny.

Thus, what kind of mindset should one adopt? And what is the mindset that the most successful people adopt? The answer is, the ‘Winner’s Mindset’. People who adopt this mindset take absolute responsibility for all that happens in their life. Therefore, they are in control of their results and success. They believe that they create their wealth and success and hence they can change it. When things do not go their way, they do not blame their bosses or on the lack of luck Rather, they remain empowered and positive even in the most dire of circumstances and they seek ways to improve the circumstances.

Hence, always remember this important lesson: ‘For things to change, I must change first!’. The moment you acknowledge the fact that you create your fortune, it means you have given yourself power to take charge and start becoming rich now! When you go on to learn the strategies of wealth creation, you will learn you can indeed be rich at any age or with as little educational or financial background. How to Beat Procrastination

Barb on August 7th, 2009

What exactly is procrastination? We have all experienced it at time. Remember the feeling that we are just a little bit stuck or frustrated and it stops us

in our tracks. We just don’t seem to be able to move forward with what we are intending to do.

So where does procrastination come from? The main reason that we suffer from procrastination is fear. That’s it, FEAR! Fear of failure, fear of success, fear

of what other people may say or think. Probably a lot more fears that you could probably think of as well.

By breaking through these fear, we can lighten up a little bit and move past procrastination and start achieving our goals.

The following steps are required to get rid of procrastination.

1. Let go of all your worries. Yeh, right, how do we do that? Sometimes the things we fear are not even valid, it may be things we were told that weren’tcorrect or things we heard as children. Once you take the time to analyse why you are fearful of success, failure or whatever it may be, we often find thatthere is really nothing valid there at all. When you recognise something fearful, just spend some time and look at it, ask yourself why are you afraid andonce you realize the truth about it, you can see that it is probably just a limiting thought and you are now able to let go of it.

2. Stop feeling sorry for yourself! we limit ourselves and cause ourselves to stop growing or succeeding by having a pity party. Stop it! Feeling sorry forus is not at all helpful and will never result in success in both personal or business life. Determine to make a resolution to stop feeling sorry foryourself now and move on. You can do it.

3. We feel that what we are trying to accomplish is just too big and we just can’t get past that thought. Maybe you are trying to look at the big pictureinstead of breaking it down to achieveable step by step bits. Spend some time to work out a plan and break the goal into little bits that you are well ableto do. You will find that you can do it and you will believe that you can achieve it if you just do what you set as a goal for today (that little bit or stepfor that day).

4. Focus is another thing that stops people from achieving and spiraling them into procrastination. Ask yourself, “if not now, when?” Make a decision to doit no matter what and set those step by step bits into action. We often get focused on multiple things and become overwhelmed with it all and toss everythingin. Things we focus on are often not very important. Take for example checking our emails. We go in and click on an interesting message and then spend thenext four hours on links that go from there to a site, and then links on the site to other sites etc. After we realize, we have spend the last four hoursreading interesting stuff but not getting anywhere to reach our goals. I would suggest that you check your emails last thing at night or after you haveachieved your days goals.

5. Make a to-do list to keep on track. This is a winners secret and it is a fact that all successful people make to-do lists and focus on them until they arefinished before taking on extra things. This, if nothing else, is one of the most powerful things you can do to break through your procrastination and soarlike the eagles.

6. Set aside a certain time to accomplish your goals. Even set a timer to keep you on track as well.

7. Just do it! Applying action is one way to get over procrastination. Do just a little every day and you will accomplish your goals. If you just spent 1hour a day in focused actions to accomplish your goal, then you will have spent 30 hours a month and that will make a huge difference to your results.

Well, there you have it, some useful tips to overcome procrastination. Hope that has been helpful to you.

Recap Summary:
- Tip 1: Get rid of your fears. Analyse them and let them go.
- Tip 2: Only worry about what is really important. Focus on the job at hand.
- Tip 3: Make time for the task (and just do it). Make a decision and apply action.

Til next time

Does Mindset Have Anything to do with Money?

Barb on September 25th, 2008
Barb
Barb

It seems to be the question of the century. Does your minds really have anything to do with what money we make, what things we have, our general life?

Once it was thought that the mindset had nothing to do with anything much at all. We knew that we needed a sound mind to work things out and become educated to get a job etc. But did we ever really know just how important the mind really is?

It is a fact that as we think, so we are, or so we become. Sounds a bit off hey? But you know that where you are today is the direct result of the thoughts and choices you made some 5 years ago or more. And where you will be in 5 years time can be the result of your changed thoughts today! What a statement!

Start thinking of what you are thinking about and the words you are using. Just observe yourself for a day or so and see for yourself. I was absolutely surprised when I did this. I was saying things that were negative and weren’t really what I wanted. I was actually saying or thinking things that were contrary to what I wanted to achieve. How screwed is that! It seems that our conscious mind is not always in harmony with our subconscious mind.

My goal was to start changing just little things that I was saying and thinking. Things like no, not, don’t etc. I had no idea that when I said no icecream, I was actually saying icecream to my subsconscious because my focus was icecream. How many times had I actually said to my kids, “Don’t run in the house” and they just kept on running in the house. They just heard - run in the house. How confused were they then! My negative words are getting less and less now.
